All parts updated on May 21, 2011.

Finally, the last part. You can find the previous posts here, here, here, and here.

Top 35 Talented Actors Age 35 and Under #'s 5-1

5. Emile Hirsch (Age 25)

I believe I first saw him in The Mudge Boy, and he was fascinating. Then he was consistently strong in The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boy and Lords of Dogtown, and downright brilliant in Alpha Dog, Into the Wild, and Milk. Still so young and destinted to have a long and lucurative career.

4. Jesse Eisenberg (Age 26)

I liken Jesse Eisenberg to Michael Cera.. I think they both have unconvential looks, play similar characters and most likely are competing for the same roles. Eisenberg has been given some of the meatier roles of the two and he continues to impress me with each one. He has more range than Cera and his performance in The Social Network is nothing but astounding. I would also recommend you seek out The Squid and the Whale and Adventureland.

3. James Franco (Age 33)

He was a bit lower on this list at first but I moved him up a little after I saw Howl, which he was completely fantastic. He’s the type of actor that started out a certain way, taking certain mainstream roles and has completely transformed himself into a great independent actor with range and charisma. His performance in 127 Hours was gorgeous, even though the film overall left me wanting. He has a number of projects coming up, both development wise and acting only. He continues to prove his unparalleled ability and desire to do everything. A fascinating actor and individual.

2. Ben Foster (Age 29)

Basically the top 3 on this list (Leonardo DiCaprio was originally on this list but had to get kicked off when he turned 36) were interchangable while making it. I didn’t know who would go where. In the end, Ben Foster beat everyone out but has now shifted to #2. Another actor where I have a history of dislike behind. I used to call him Ratboy when he was on Six Feet Under. I didn’t like his character and I didn’t like him. Then he started showing up in a lot of films, doing a lot of amazing things. He should have been nominated for an Academy Award times already. His performance in The Messenger is vulnerable and shattering. I can never wait to see what he’ll do next.

1. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Age 30)

Talk about charismatic. Someone who's career I've followed for a long time now. He delivers raw performances, where you can feel the vulnerablity. His performances in Brick and Mysterious Skin are unreal; he does something with (500) Days of Summer that I’m not sure another actor could have pulled off. He was fantastic in The Lookout and great in Inception. To be able to overcome the child actor stigma no easy feat, and he’s accomplished it and so much more. He was originally #2, since my Top 3 were basically interchangable. With Leonardo DiCaprio having to leave the list after turning 36, I decided to shift him to #1. An incredible talent, who continues to take interesting roles.
