Top 30 Fall Films to See (Sept-Dec)

August 27th 2010 03:08
It's that time of year again. The top 30 and then everything else, in order.

I have no doubts that this list will be edited signficantly due to release date announcements and/or pushbacks. For now this is as accurate as I can make it bearing the aforementioned as well as the absence of certain trailers and just the complete lack of knowledge of smaller releases. All release dates listed are U.S.

bold = seen

note: edited on 10/22/10 with many changes in order and also additions of newly scheduled releases

Hi Sarah, are you on some kind of official release date RFF?
I've not heard of 90% of these movies, and I call myself a film critic. Mind you, 90% I probably won't have much interest in seeing ...
Ones that I know of and am interested in seeing:
Black Swan
Tron: Legacy
The Girl that Kicked the Hornet's Nest
Machete
Let Me In
Monsters
Paranormal Activity 2
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Mesrine was released down under on DVD a few months back, and Case 39 had a theatrical many months back.

lol, no basically I use the Entertainment Weekly fall preview as a main guide and then I search the apple.com trailers page, then I check out film-releases.com and comingsoon.net, all while conversing with CinemaEnthusiast and we try to get it as accurate as we can. I was too lazy to do pictures and synopsis so check out her post for that Are you interested in A Girl, A Gun and a Noodle Shop? That's the Yimou remake of Blood Simple. Trailer is here:

Strange! An Asian remake of an American movie?! That almost never happens!
I didn't see Flying Daggers, but hero didn't do much for me. I love Zhang Yimou's early movies, especially Raise the Red Lantern.
I don't especially like the title, A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop. Why not Blood Simple, since it's a remake ...? And they quote Hammett at the beginning anyway.
I like the sword through the door echoing the bullet shots through the wall from the original.
I'll definitely see the movie, but Blood Simple is one of my all-time favourite movies.

Same here, Bryn. love Blood Simple. I actually really like the title. I agree about Hero. Love love love Raise the Red Lantern. Really excited to see what he can do with something that was already such an incredible film.
